California Travels

Hello Friends and Family,

Casa Grande Potluck

We have had a great time so far in California. We started out from Stockton, TX, on February 6, with a rollin' Beaver rally. If you don't know what a "Beaver rally" is, it is a group of fellow travelers who own Beaver motorhomes. We traveled from Stockton to Las Cruces, NM, the first day which was approximately 300 miles.

We stayed in Las Cruces two days and just did some sightseeing while in the area. Then we traveled to Casa Grande, AZ for one night and had a final potluck dinner with all our travel companions.

From there we visited Tom and Barb at their spot in Surprise, AZ. We had a nice visit and dinner with them and some of their old friends.

We left there to go to the CAT Rally (Caterpillar) in Hemet, CA. We had a great time and did a tour of Cat's Solar Turbine Plant. We also had a day of golf and ate lots of great food. We were there for 5 days and then headed out in another rollin' rally to the Beaver Lead-In Rally in Chula Vista, CA (south of San Diego).

We visited the U.S.S. Midway which is docked in San Diego harbor. It was very interesting and we were there for 5 hours. Then we went to a great place on the harbor for dinner. We had a great time visiting with all our Beaver friends and the rally had lots of great entertainment.

We were at the FMCA in Pomona from the 22nd until the 29th.

We then headed to Paso Robles for three days to relax and enjoy Terry's birthday before heading up to the Delta for some fishing.

Winery with Beaver logo - we got wine glasses.
Paso Robles is inland from San Simeon about 30 miles and has about 170 wineries in the area so we decided to have a nice brunch at a French restaurant for Terry's birthday and then go to some wineries for tasting. We had a great time. The next day we went to Hearst Castle for the Experience Tour. (They have four tours you can take to different parts of the house). We toured the pool, guest house, and main residence. The place is spectacular.

Well, this is it so far and I will get more pictures while we are in Clearlake and post those later. Hope you enjoy this blog.
