Appliances

Well, we got the appliances but they aren't completely hooked up since we don't have propane or electricity. We are also still waiting on the new granite for the top of the bar behind the sink and dishwasher. Hopefully this week!!

Now I have double ovens and a microwave. Should be able to cook lots for Thanksgiving. Need to get my cookware first!!

The cooktop is 5 burners. I won't know how to cook with all those pots going at once!! Right now I'm down to one burner since one of mine in the MH is malfunctioning!! Oh well, hopefully just 23 more days!!

As you can see I'm everywhere. Sitting on the rock out back and looking out the front doors. The grates for the doors are in the garage and should be on today.

We are having lighting on both sides of the rv space so they are putting up the electrical above.
There was lots of lumber left over from the rv space and they won't take back anything that has nails in it so we salvaged a lot of lumber to build a workbench and whatever else we may need.

First Terry took all the nails out and we stacked behind the rv space out of the guys way that were staining. Now that it's stained we moved the stack to the rv space in the back as you can see behind Terry.

Well, that's it for today. Hope everyone had a great summer and will enjoy the Fall weather. I know we will like having cooler temps and lower humidity.

RV Space Ready for Stone

Texas has some great sunsets. Thought you might enjoy this one!
Hello everyone. I think Mary Lou and Joanne will appreciate this picture since it was their sinks that I first saw. I think I will really like this black sink. We are still waiting on the bar top to be replaced since this one is not wide enough. It should be 24 inches but is only 18. Someone at the tile company messed up this one!!

The wood floor was put down on Thursday. It really looks nice and wish we could have put it in some other part of the house, but it wasn't cheap!! The painters are still working on the study doors. They did a terrible job on the finish so they are now taking off all the finish to redo. If that doesn't work, I guess they will have to get new doors and start over. They put the doors in the garage so they had more light and could see what they were doing. They redid the molding and it looks good now except for the trey ceiling which will need to be redone because the joints at the corners don't match up good enough. Terry's new slogan is "Good enough is not good enough".

The front doors arrived on Friday and of course they will have to be stained also!! Hope they get it right the first time. They should be stained the same as the cabinets.

We had a big rock on the side of the yard and asked the guy there digging holes to move it to the middle of this group of trees that is just behind the patio. We missed it of course so don't have any pictures of him moving the stone. Our neighbor said he had his bucket move it about two feet at a time and then finally got to a place he could push it with the front loader. It's a great place to have lunch. The equipment below is what he used to move the rock.

He's digging the hole now for the propane tank and the next picture shows the tank in the ground and the gas company there to run the line to the house. They fill it up to 80% so there's room for vaporization. We will be on a route and they will top it off monthly or every two weeks during the months we need heat. We can't imagine that we will use much since we have propane in the MH and haven't bought any since December and we only have a 70 gal tank. Right now it reads 46% full!! Of course we only cook with it now.

Then he had to dig a line for the sewer pipe from the rv space to the septic tank. Then he had to measure to make sure he had enough slope. Terry's figures it will take a week for the dump to get to the septic tank!!

The tank is all hooked up now and all he had to do is hook it up to the system that will phone the home office if there is a problem, get the pump up and running and cover it up. We will have to ad chlorine occasionally. Of course, we will need electricity to run the pump and we have none at the moment!

When we left on Thursday the rv space was ready for staining as seen below. The metal roof has now been ordered and the rock should go on soon. After all that is done they will complete the drive. Only 30 feet will be concrete and then the rest will be crushed granite.

They had to use very big brackets for these beams. This is a good look at the front where the gates will go. I think we need a big Texas star or Longhorn!!! Right!

I don't know how this guy is going to get all that stain out of his hair and off his skin!! It was blowing everywhere. They weren't finished when we left yesterday so will get more pictures today and next week.

The equipment guy (John) put lots of the rock from the holes he dug in the low area where the rv drive would be, then he put dirt on top so now there is a road there. The dump trucks came in Friday and unloaded 4 to 5 more loads of dirt for the drain field and drove across the rv drive. If it will hold those trucks, it should be fine for the rv.

We took this picture from the cul-de-sac so you can see how Terry will be backing in. Also, any of you rver's who want to visit.

Well, that's it for today. Hope you all have a great end of summer.

Rv Space Started

Well, it finally began. Can you believe it. We went out to the house yesterday and they were putting the big 12 x 12 beams in place and we didn't have the camera!! So we had to go home and get it before they put up the taller 12 x 12 beams on the front ends.

We took a shot of the space from the street cul-de-sac. Obviously, they don't have the drive in yet.

The above view is from today and is the back side that will be toward the trees. They have Braced it with 2x4's until they get the big metal brackets in place. That's our neighbor's house in the background.

This is the front of the space after they had all the 2 x 12's in place. The last one on the front will be another 12 x 12 beam with the same curved end. They did not put it in place as of yet. It will be very heavy. 19 ft across!!

We came over to vacuum up the garage and house. It is always a mess and it drives Terry crazy. He vacuumed and I watched the building, digging, etc. The septic tank is in the ground as you can see below.

It's a pretty big tank don't you think. After using a 40 gal black tank and a 60 gal grey tank, this thing is really, really big!!! It has three different sections, 500 gal, 750 gal and 400 gal, or something like that. Huge! The drain field will be approx 30 ft. by 75 ft. along the side yard.

Terry thought we should have a picture of the limestone that came out of the hole for the septic. They will haul this over to the rv drive area as fill.
I had to climb the rocks!! Guess I'm like Wendy and love rocks!!

Then John came back to dig the hole for the propane tank that you can see in the background. It's only 500 gal. We opted out of the 1000 gal one since we will be on a service that comes around on a regular basis and tops off the tank. We don't need to bury 1000 gals of money for propane!!

Well, they they started raising the big beam!! This is the corner beam which is about 19 ft tall. No equipment!! Just guys lifting and hoisting!!

It didn't take them very long. Below is a picture of the end of the beam that will go across the front of the space above the gates. It will lay on top of the front corner and back corner beams. They have not put it up yet. Maybe tomorrow. Hope we are there when they try to lift this up 19 ft in the air and then lay on the other beams!! Surely they will have equipment for that!

The back corner beam is now almost in place and then it's straight up and then in the bracket!!

The back side before we left today. They are putting up a wood front on the corbels for the back. I guess that will stablize the structure for the metal roof.

More pictures tomorrow. Hope you enjoy these.

Terry's fishing tournament

Terry's first tournament with the local bass club was on Sunday. He actually fished with a guy we met at Shreveport last October during the Bass Team World Championship. He went to the meeting last week because he had seen a couple of guys in Oklahoma from Texas and they told him to come to their club in Round Rock (about 8 miles). When he got there, he saw this guy Larry and his son Luke that were in Shreveport. Very small world. Anyway, they hooked up for the tournament this past Sunday. It was on Georgetown Lake and Terry caught three fish. The one below weighed 4.19 lbs. He didn't get big fish. Luke had one over 5 lbs. Terry and his partner finished 6th which was okay for his first Texas tournament. This was the day after hurricane Ike went thru Texas. As you can see it was a beautiful day in Central Texas. We didn't get anything but some wind from the hurricane and it was gone by the end of the day on Saturday.

They had a paper tournament and only weighed in big fish. Paper tournament was interesting. You measure your fish and there is a predetermined weight assigned for each 1/2 inch so it works pretty good.
Well, that's it for fishing. More later. Sandy

Septic and Granite

The granite is being installed today and also the plumbing. We haven't been over there in a few days so had to check out the progress. Still nothing on the rv space. The braces for the 12 x 12 posts had to be reordered and special made!!
The septic hole is being dug and they have to get it down 7-8 ft below the lines which are down about a foot or so.

Very deep hole. Also had the glass blocks in the shower put in today!! I thought they look great.

That's all today. More later.

Stillhouse Fishing

Yesterday was another good day fishing. We went to Killeen and Stillhouse Lake. Terry caught a really, really big fish!!! I think the lure was larger than the fish, what do you think?
But, he did catch a nice 4 lb. bass on the same crank bait. See it works on all sizes!!
Unlike Terry, I catch flying fish!! No really I just let it fly to see what kind of "re-entry" to the water it would have. Pretty good if I do say so!!

Now we will just wait on the storm to pass before we go fishing again. Hopefully we won't get blown away. We think the storm will go quite a bit east of here, but do expect rain and some wind around 40 to 50 mph!!
Later. Sandy

Paint on the doors

The painters were there this weekend and got the outside trim painted. They stained the ceiling on the porch and little too dark, but it will be okay.
Just a couple of pictures. We now have the outside trim painted. The doors look pretty good.

Below are the garage doors painted. I sure like the color better than the ugly beige before!!
We will be getting the granite this week and then the tile work. Things are going fast and are closing on the 17th of Oct.
Can't wait!!

Until we have more to show.
