Kenai Reds

This week the guys have been fishing in Soldotna on the Kenai River for Sockeye or Red salmon. Below is a slideshow of some of the fish they have caught and the packaging process. The jars have been canned (takes about 4 hours total) and the fillets are frozen. The skinned fish that Gary is cleaning is used in canning. The fillets have most of the bones removed and the skin is left on.

We have sent home 150 lbs. of fish!! Will fill up the small freezer again with silvers from Valdez and some of the Kenai reds the remainder of this week. We'll have lots of fish to share.

You can see a slide show with nothing but pictures by double clicking this picture. On the screen that appears click on "view all" and on the next screen you can click "slideshow." You'll then see a message that says to click "f11" to see pictures at full screen. F11 is in the row of keys at the very top of the keyboard. This applies to all the slide shows on this blog.
